Aged between 15 and 26? Then you’re eligible to be a member of North Downs Young Farmers’ Club!
We’re a club of young people with an interest in the countryside and playing around outdoors. We meet regularly in and around the Maidstone area and always welcome new members!
Last year our events ranged from discos, bowling, talks, walks, model making and team building adventures to borrowing and showing animals at the Kent County Show. We even won the Maidstone River Festival raft race with our Space Invader -themed raft two years ago! Our events programme is diverse and has something for everyone.
This new website is under construction, but we hope it gives you a taste for what we get up to. Remember, you don’t have to be a farmer to be a young farmer (most of us aren’t!) – so get involved!
Eight members from North Downs YFC went to the National YFC convention in Torquay this year to join the Kent delegation. We survived.. just about.. only one trip to A&E!
The nights are themed.. Dress to impress on Friday, Fancy Dress (the theme this year was ‘through the decades’) on Saturday, and a ‘foam party’ on Sunday night. During the day we attended NFYFC events (including the national Pantomime finals) and meetings, Paignton zoo, and various bars in and around Torquay.
Ten member from North Downs YFC went to the Kent County Ball. The event was hosted at Ashford International Hotel – and it celebrated 70 years of Young Farmers’ Clubs in Kent. The event was a sell-out with 250 young farmers (past and present) enjoying a three course meal and an evening of music (including a live band).
Members from North Downs YFC crammed into Rosie’s house for Christmas dinner. Everyone had a Secret Santa present to accompany their full Christmas dinner – cooked expertly by Rosie and her Mum! The evening finished with fireworks in the garden. What a wonderful day!
